Ever since I saw that episode "Family Feud", when Slade told Tina about having a sister
named Shara, she has been one of my favorite characters. So here's a story dedicated just for her. All characters belong to SABAN entertainment accept the ones I made up. Suggestions and comments are always welcomed.
The moon shined brightly throughout the solar system of planets and a blanket of stars. The light of the moon shined towards earth like a light from heaven. Yet the dark side of the moon was anything but. The year was 2030 according to the earth calendar. The year they attacked. When Darkon invaded the milky way galaxy into Earth's solar system, all hell broke out. There were wars everyday and deaths over the thousands. After months had past, and all seemed lost, until humanity's prayers have been answered. A human once known as Ness Carter had transformed into Teknoman Slade and became Earth's guardian. He even fought his own family that was turned into Teknomen slaves for Darkon. Accept his father who had died, and his sister, Shara.
On the dark side of the moon had hidden, Darkon's moon base, which was once called the Argos. A spaceship which had brought to him a human family which he turned them into his venemoid teknomen slaves, by placing them into tekno pods. Inside the lair, little remained of the ship accept some walls and steps. There were few survivors among the tekno process. Most of the tortured humans gave in, all accept for one.
Inside one of the teknopods, Shara hugged her knees closer to her chest and had her eyes shut tight. She was inside a pool of green liquid which she could breath, yet when she did, the liquid went into her and took control of her body. Yet somehow she learned how to fight it by holding on to her humanity. It wasn't easy but it kept her alive. All she had to do was hold on to her memories and her feelings.
'I won't let him win. I won't let Darkon win over me!' she kept repeating in her mind.
She then decided to think deep into her past and remembered her how life was before this, before the exploration of the Argos...........................
Shara Carter gazed at herself through the bathroom mirror. As any teenager she was looking for any sign of a zit. She put her silvery-blonde hair up in a navy blue ribbon to match the navy blue on her school uniform. The other girls at school had made their skirts shorter to attract the attention of the opposite sex, but if she tried it her father and mother would never let her out of the house if she had did that to her uniform.
"Shara, are you still in there? C'mon hurry up!" a voice from behind the door knocked. Not looking at it Shara pretended not to hear but the voice yelled again. She grew frustrated.
"Alright, give me another sec, Ness!" She barked. She glanced at herself one more time and headed toward the door. When she opened it Ness was waiting. Ness Carter and his twin Cain were the most popular boys in school, the girls thought the two were so perfect but Shara knew better. She lived with them! and they were anything 'but' perfect.
"It's all yours," Shara said.
Ness walked in as she stepped out," about time," he mumbled.
She ignored him and went to her room and grabbed her back pack. She then looked at her clock. It was 7:45, she was late for school! Shara ran down the hallways and down the stairs.
"Where's the fire?," a voice behind her asked. She turned to see Cain, but didn't have time to answer him, as she ran to the kitchen.
"Shara, how many times have I told you not to run in the house, now eat your breakfast," said the woman putting away some dishes, she had the same hair as Cain and Conrad and Ness's eyes yet she looked like an older version of Shara.
"I can't , I'm late for school, mom," Shara said grabbing a waffle off her plate and turned toward the closet to get her shoes.
"Again?" asked her father at the table. He looked more like Shara because of his blonde hair.
"Have you stayed up talking all night to your friends?" asked her father. Cain entered the room overhearing this.
"Or, one of your boyfriends?" he teased.
Their father folded the newspaper he was reading on the table and gave Shara a straight look.
"I don't have a boyfriend. Cain is just being stupid. Something he's good at!" Shara said.
"Shara Elizabeth Carter! Apologize to your brother, right now!" her mother said angrily.
Shara sulked and turned toward Cain who was smiling.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled not looking directly at him.
He patted her on the head, "thats alright, I forgive you."
She then headed her toward the door until her mother's voice called from the kitchen.
"Shara, come home right after school. Conrad is coming for dinner."
Shara ran outside toward school. 'Oh, great,' she thought. Her eldest brother who was in college, was worse than Ness and Cain put together. They always teamed up against her because she was the youngest and she was a girl. Oh how she wanted a sister, to talk to for advice and understood her.
In the teknopod, Shara smiled to herself. Even though things weren't perfect for her back then, she would do anything to be the girl she once was. She missed her life, her home, and most of all her family. She thought how protective and loving her father was...............
"Come on Shara, you can't give up!," her daddy said to her when she got up and headed toward the house.
Then, Shara Carter was a six year old girl, and like most children at that age were being taught to ride a bike. Shara had fallen off and scraped her arm.
"No!" she cried. Tears were in her eyes. She wanted to learn how to ride a bike just like Ness and Cain but she was to afraid now.
Her daddy came over and wiped the tears out of her eyes.
"If you give up now, you'll never be able to have the courage to conquer your fear, is that what you want, princess?" he asked. She looked at the bike on the ground.
"I'm scared," she said.
He kissed her on the forehead, "Don't worry, I promise I won't let you fall down. Please get back on."
Shara sniffled and looked deep into her father's face. His eyes were gentle and she tried to smile. She then pulled her bike up and looked at it for a moment.
"You promise, you won't let me fall?" she asked.
he nodded," cross my heart."
She tried to blink away her tears and got back on the bike. Her daddy was behind her holding on to her shoulder to part of the handlebar.
"Alright, all you have to do is look forward and keep pedaling, can you do that?" he asked. She nodded. She then started pedaling and her daddy ran with her.
"That's it Shara!" her daddy exclaimed.
Then when she picked up speed he released her. By the time she knew what happened she was riding on her own!
"Wheeee!" she cried. After riding around in circles she stopped. Her daddy came rushing toward her. She jumped into his arms and they hugged eachother tightly.
"I made it! Did you see? I did it!" she cried excitedly.
He smiled at his daughter, "I know you would, Shara."
A tear ran escaped Shara's eye and dissolved into the green liquid of the teknopod. Her father didn't deserve his fate, none of them did. He had been rejected from the tekno system and was suppose to have died but he held on. He got out his gun and fired at one of the pods. The one he saved was his son, Ness Carter who was also Slade. Their father could have freed any of them but fate had chosen Slade. She remembered over hearing her father telling Slade of Darkon's invasion. He then manage to get Slade to safety but was eaten up by the remaining goo of the tekno pod. That was the last thing she remembered of him. Slade had made out and was on his way to help the Earth, he was Teknoman Slade now, but her brother, Ness Carter, lived within him...............
"Hey you guys! Wait up!" Shara cried as her brothers ran faster than she did. The young ten year old girl did her best to catch up with them accept her dress got in her way.
Their parents finally gave in and took Conrad, Cain, Ness, and Shara to the carnival after days of begging.
Conrad and Cain ignored Shara and ran faster to get to the roller coaster ride. Ness slowed down and waited for her. He then took her by the hand and the two ran together.
The roller coaster ride had scared the living daylights out of her but she pretended not to care.
Until one night she couldn't go to sleep because of it. She just sat there in bed hugging her doll close to her. Ness who had went to the bathroom saw her light on.
"Shara, you're still up?" Ness asked walking in her room. She nodded. Ness walked over to the side of her bed.
"What's the matter, bad dream?" Ness asked watching how she clutched her doll closer to her. There was sweat on her forehead and her blond hair was damp.
"uh huh," she answered.
"What about?"
She looked at him to see his emerald green eyes filled with concern.
"Is it about the roller coaster ride that you said you weren't afraid of?"
She blinked. 'How did he know?' she asked herself. She just nodded.
"C'mon Shara, I know your brave and all but everyone is scared of something," he said gently. She looked up at him.
"Even you?" she asked.
He nodded, "The only thing you can do is conquer your fear."
She leaned closer to him,"How do I do that?".
"By facing it, this time with your eyes open."
She smiled, "okay."
That weekend Conrad had taken Cain, Ness, and Shara to the carnival again and to their suprise Shara got on the really fast roller coaster and came out laughing. From that day forward she learned to face her fear.
Shara opened her eyes and looked around the chamber and at the other teknopods. She then gazed at the three men who were going to be called Axe, Lance, and Rabier. She turned her head and looked at the pod next to her. It belonged to the teknoman who was going to be called Sword. Her name was Katherine Thompson. She was Conrad's fiancee, they were ready to be married after the exploration of the Argos. An exploration that ended in tragedy.
Shara twirled her pencil around in her fingers. Who would have thought geometry would be so hard! Second year of high school was way harder then her first year. She just guessed on the last problem hoping it was right, shoved her stuff into her backpack and collapsed on her bed. She really wasn't lazy but she had a rough day. She was late for school and got scolded at. Gym wasn't one of her favorite subjects either, unlike Ness who a tennis champ. She then heard a knock at her door.
"Come in," she said.
"Hey, kiddo," a man said coming from behind the door.
She groaned,"hey, Conrad."
A tall man about a few inches shorter than their father stepped in. He had sharp black hair and Cain's blue eyes. He look like he was really happy about something.
"What's wrong?" he asked sitting at the foot of her bed.
"Nothing, I'm just tired," she said sitting up.
"So I see. Hey lets go downstairs, mom made sashimi, our favorite," he said pulling her arm.
She smirked,"Corad, sashimi is your favorite!"
"Yeah, well, come on lets go eat anyway," he said.
Shara followed Conrad downstairs. Everyone was downstairs. Their mom was in the kitchen, their father was at the table lecturing Ness and Cain about something, and there was also a woman in the kitchen with their mother.
"Who's are guest?" Shara asked Conrad.
"Don't worry, I'll introduce you and the others to her."
The family sat down at the table with their father at the head. The girl was a little shorter than Conrad about her mother's height. She had wavy brown hair and green eyes, there must have been something in them because Conrad kept staring right at her.
"Dad, mom, Cain, Ness, Shara.......meet Katherine Thompson."
Their mother got up and clasped her hands together,"Oh, yes. Conrad mentioned you."
"Please, to meet all of you," she said. They all nodded. Conrad pulled out a chair for her like a waiter in a fancy restaurant. She giggled. Right there and then everyone knew the two were in love.
Months later Shara got her wish she got a sister, well a sister-in-law.
She used her telepathic powers to try and contact her, 'Sword,.....Katherine.....do you hear me?'
There was silence for a few minutes, 'I ......hear.....you.,' Katherine's voice said. Shara gasped. She barely recognized it because it was so weakened.
'Katherine, don't give in! Please! We can't let him win!' Shara cried. All Shara heard was a gasp and the telepathic link between her and Katherine had ended. Shara shut her eyes, poor Katherine, she lost the man she was about to marry, the only man she loved. Shara thought that was how her mother felt when they never returned. She wish she knew how she was doing, or if she was even alive..............
"Oh, they're so beautiful!" A fourteen year old Shara exclaimed at the field of amaryllis flowers. A field her mother and her had worked on. Petals danced in the wind around her. Shara sighed,"Aren't they, mother?".
Her mother nodded,"Come inside Shara, I picked up something for you at the mall today."
Shara turned,"for me?."
She followed her mother inside and up to Shara's bedroom. At first Shara couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Pastel colors were all over her room until something white shimmered from her closet. Shara looked over in curiosity, and walked to her closet."
She opened the door in her closet wider and nearly screamed. There it was, a white silk and satin dress hung from her hanger and there was white dress shoes were in her closet too.
"I saw you eyeing it in the store window, and thought you could wear it to the dance this Friday," her mom said smiling.
Shara ran to her and embraced her hard,"Oh mom! THANK YOU!"
Shara then got dress and headed toward the bathroom to try it on.
"Well, what do you think?" she asked.
Tears welded in her mother's eyes, "you look beautiful, dear!"
Shara whirled around and laughed and back into her mother's arms.
"Oh, mom! I love you so much!".
That Friday Shara went to the dance and was the most popular girl there. She danced with a lot of guys and made most of the girls very jealous.
While sitting down to give her feet a rest a figure stood before her. She looked up to see a young man probably her age with blonde hair, the color of the sun in a summer afternoon's sky, and laughing yet gentle blue eyes.
"May I have this dance?" he asked. She was about to say 'no' because she was tired and her feet were screaming in agony, until he gave her a smile. At that moment her heart controlled her. She smiled back at him and nodded. He invited his hand toward her and she took it.
Soft music played as they danced, their eyes were locked on to eachother, as they talked to one another.
"My name is Ryan Grey, what's your name?" he asked.
"Shara, ….Shara Carter," she answered.
"You have a beautiful name."
"Thank you."
Ryan and Shara were voted prince and princess of the dance, from that night on the two became closer. Sure it angered her dad but she didn't care. She remembered on the Argues mission, he told her that he loved her.
A voice snapped Shara from her thoughts. She recognized it immediately, it was Saber's voice. Ever since Cain gave up and was hatched as Teknoman Saber, he had always came to tell her of his battles and wins over their brother Slade. It was ironic really, when they were kids, at sports the twins always tried to best on another, at sports, knowledge, basically anything, and each of them would play tug-a-war using Shara. Some times they would try to turn her on one of their sides. Yet now it was very different. Saber didn't want to best Slade, he wanted to kill him. Shara was horrified when Saber told her that he once trapped Slade by using his time limit against him, he destroyed many of Earth's defenses, and was almost destroyed himself. From that day forward Shara hated Saber. She hated his piercing red eyes that were so bright they could cut and draw blood, she hated his mocking and gloating voice, hated what he had done to Earth and to Slade, and most of all what he did to her brother, Cain Carter……………..
'Cain, please don't give up! Don't let Darkon win!' Shara pleaded. Cain was undergoing the tests in the Teknopods, he was putting up a fight but the odds were all against him. Cain gritted his teeth and jerked his head from left to right.
'I...won't', Cain said .
Then they both saw a pair of ruby eyes coming from the throne. Darkon's image appeared.
"FOOL, DO YOU THINK YOU CAN RESIST ME?!" Darkon yelled at Cain. Shara saw the final tests begin.
'Cain, please! Don't give in! fight him! You can do it, I know you can!' Shara shouted to him in their minds.
"SILENCE!" Darkon roared toward Shara.
Red liquid filled Cain's pod. Cain screamed as it touched him. Shara was horrified, she had never heard her brother scream, not once. She didn't have to be told what kind of pain he was in. He looked at her and gave her a weak smile.
"Please,...Shara...help...me," Cain begged.
Tears overflowed is Shara's eyes, 'Cain...'
Cain didn't take her eyes off her, 'Don't cry Shara, soon I'll be free again, don't forget me, okay?'
The tears poured down even more and Shara sobbed into her shoulder. Then Cain's voice came to her one last time.
'I...love...you,...little...sister,'
Shara watched his beautiful blue eyes turn a dark red and then the pod burst. An armored figure jumped down from the pod in which Cain was once in. Red liquid was all over the floor. Then the armored figure's eyes lighted a ruby red.
"WELCOME MY NEW WARRIOR," Darkon greeted.
The figure kneeled down toward Darkon's direction, "I am your to command, my lord Darkon, I am Teknoman Saber."
Shara gazed directly out of her pod at Saber as he told her of his near victory over Slade. Small tears flew from her eyes as he spoke to her. She couldn't believe this monster was once her brother.
"By the time you emerge, my sister, I would have already crush the traitor Slade, and his little Space Knight friends," he gloated.
'You don't mean that!!!' Shara wanted to scream. Yet doing so she would only just waste her strength, strength she needed to fight Darkon off. Shara just shut her eyes and let her tears dissolve into the liquid within the pod. She heard Saber sigh and heard his rockets fire out of the chamber.
She waited a few minutes until she knew he was gone before she spoke to the others.
'I'm leaving,' Shara said defiantly. She heard the others gasp among themselves.
'Are you insane?!' asked the one who was going to be called Rabier.
'Don't do it, Shara!' Katherine cried.
'It's to risky, you might not survive!' said the one who was going to be called Axe.
Shara then began to have second thoughts. They were probably right, if she left now, Saber would catch her and bring her back or worse. Only one voice spoke out.
'Do it Shara!' said the one who was going to be named Lance.
'Do you think I can make it?' Shara asked.
'Of course! You need to make it! Earth needs you! Slade needs you! You heard what Saber said! GO!'
'What about you, you can come with me!' 'I won't be much use, the final test is beginning for me, go Shara!' With Lance's final words Shara broke out of the pod, green liquid splattered at the ground and Shara jumped down. She turned to Lance and saw the red liquid entering his pod.
'I won't forget you, Shara' Lance said.
'Nor I, you' Shara said, ' goodbye, Ryan.'
Shara manage to transform herself into a teknoman and with the little strength she had left Darkon's moon base. Heading toward the Earth to find Slade.
